Privacy policy

This policy explains what information my website and shop collect, why, and what happens to it. “I” and “me” mean A Novel Leaf LLC.

When you buy a plant

Checkout runs on Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email, shipping address and payment details, and shares your name, email and shipping address with me so I can ship your plant and reach you about your order. I never see your full card number. Stripe handles payment information under its own privacy policy.

I keep order records as long as I need them for taxes and bookkeeping. After you buy, I may email you about your order, including once to ask how your plant arrived and whether you’d leave a review. I don’t add buyers to a mailing list.

When you contact me

My contact form asks for your name, email and message. It reaches my email and my website’s message list so I can reply, and it’s deleted automatically within 12 months.

How my site is used

To see which pages are useful and to fix problems, my site uses analytics from PostHog and Vercel. They record the pages you visit and how you move through them, including session recordings with anything you type hidden, plus your browser, device and approximate location (city), worked out from your IP address. This isn’t linked to your name or email, and I don’t sell it or use it for advertising.

Cookies

My site stores a few small things in your browser: your language, if you switch to Spanish, and an analytics identifier so visits can be counted. There are no advertising cookies. The Amazon links on my Supplies page are affiliate links; once you follow one, Amazon’s privacy policy applies.

Who helps me run this

My website service uses Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and images), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics) and Upstash (spam protection for the contact form), and payments go through Stripe. They use your information only to provide these services.

Your choices

You can ask what information I have about you, or ask me to correct or delete it. Email me (my address is on my Contact page) and I’ll reply within 30 days. Order records I’m required to keep for taxes stay until that obligation ends.

Children

My site isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, I’ll update the date at the top.
